Paying for PrEP

If you are insured:

Your insurance should cover the medication PrEP, and costs of provider visits and labs. Some insurance companies have been slow to implement this change, but have 60 days from July 23, 2021 to comply with the new rule or risk penalties.

If you need insurance, you may qualify for special enrollment periods for the ACA (Obamacare) and for expanded subsidies - many people pay $0.

If you are not insured:

Due to recent changes to the ACA Marketplace (Obamacare) many more people are now eligible for low to no cost plans that will cover PrEP services and other health care services.  Even if you have been turned down before, check again!
